WWS is a year-round wildlife rehabilitation centre located on 45 acres in Minden, Ontario, Canada.
Founder and director Monika Melichar has dedicated her life to helping wildlife in need. With a BSc in zoology and with over 25 years experience rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife, she is authorized as a Wildlife Custodian by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and also holds a special Migratory Bird permit, allowing the sanctuary and all the volunteers to care for most species of wildlife. Unfortunately, after many years of rehabbing raccoons, she has developed severe allergies to them and can no longer accept them into care.
Most species of injured and orphaned wildlife are accepted, rehabilitated and released back to their natural environment.
